The Blue Troops personnel from the Cilincing District Water Resources (SDA) Implementation Unit, North Jakarta, are repairing a retaining wall on Jalan Syech Nawawi Albatani, RT 14/04, Semper Barat Urban Village. The repairs, located on the west side of PT Justus, have now reached 85 percent completion.
To complete next week
Head of the Unit, Ichsan said handling was carried out as a follow-up to a report from Semper Barat Urban Village regarding the condition of the retaining wall which was damaged and required raising.
Water Channels in RW 07 Rawa Barat Dredged"Water flow at the location is also disrupted due to the accumulation of rubbish," he said, Friday (9/11).
Ichsan explained that the work involved constructing a 145-meter-long retaining wall with a channel width of approximately one meter. The height of the retaining wall was adjusted to suit field conditions, with the height being 40 centimeters at the front and reaching 100 centimeters at the back.
Ichsan hopes that once the work is completed, water flow at the site will be smoother, thus minimizing the potential for flooding, especially during heavy rainfall. Now the work has reached approximately 85 percent progress since it began last August.
"The target is to complete next week," he added.
Meanwhile, one of the local residents, Sodikin hopes that the drainage improvements will benefit residents, particularly in reducing the potential for flooding during the rainy season.
"Hopefully our environment will be more organized, clean and free from inundation," he hoped.
